Description of Activities
Fractionation and isolation of compounds from by-products of the hemp supply chain. This work package uses advanced separation and purification techniques to obtain high-purity compounds, which will be characterised and evaluated for their potential biological applications. The effective isolation of these compounds is crucial for enhancing the value of the hemp supply chain by-products and turning them into valuable resources.

Specific Goals
- Isolation of lipophilic compounds from hemp powder for pharmaceutical/nutraceutical/cosmetic applications.
- Isolation and characterisation of compounds (cannabinoid esters, minor cannabinoids, phenolic compounds, terpenes, and small peptides) from hemp leaves and extraction residues to discover new lead compounds for multipurpose applications and synthesis or scale-up processes.
- Synthetic alternatives to produce less abundant cannabinoids and their derivatives in adequate quantities for bioactivity assays.
